When we first laid eyes on the Flamingo House, we knew it had all the potential to become something extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of East Nashville, this quaint little cottage sat on almost half an acre — a perfect canvas just waiting for the right vision to bring it to life. Fast forward to today, and the transformation is nothing short of magical. From the vibrant exterior to the inviting spaces inside, every corner of this home exudes warmth, character, and charm.
But perhaps the star of the show is the kitchen. Let’s take a closer look at how this dreamy renovation came together, with a particular focus on the heart of the home: the kitchen.
The Dreamy Kitchen: A Heartfelt Hub
We knew that in order for the Flamingo House to feel as inviting as it looked, the kitchen had to be nothing less than spectacular. It’s not just a space for cooking—it’s the place where memories are made, where family and friends gather, and where life happens. So, we set out to design a kitchen that was as beautiful as it was functional.
Color Palette & Materials
We wanted to create a space that felt both modern, and captured the heart of the neighborhood in which it sits, with elements that complemented the overall vibe of the house. The color palette is a perfect blend of soft, muted tones with bold accents. We chose crisp white cabinetry as a base, offering a clean, airy look. But the real showstopper? The deep, rich arches, black cabinetry, and green tile that anchors the space and brings in a touch of modern sophistication. Paired with brass hardware, the combination feels colorful but never too overwhelming.
The countertops are a dream come true. We selected a stunning quartz with subtle veining to add texture and visual interest, while keeping the overall vibe light and breezy. And the backsplash—oh, the backsplash! A rippled deep green hue that catches the vibe just right. It’s a soft nod to the Flamingo House’s playful name, without being too literal.
Layout & Functionality
We completely reimagined the layout of this kitchen to maximize both style and efficiency. The open-concept design allows for an easy flow between the kitchen, dining area, and living spaces, creating the perfect environment for entertaining and everyday living.
The large peninsula not only serves as a prep space but also doubles as a breakfast bar, perfect for casual meals or a glass of wine with friends. We added ample storage with custom cabinetry, maximizing every inch of space. And for those who love to cook (or simply need a little extra storage), the dark and bold dining area with an attached full bath tucked away behind the kitchen is a game-changer. It was meant to impress your friends and to be the setting (and photo backdrop) behind every friend get-together.
