Inside a Modern Farmhouse Bathroom Retreat
This project was the last piece of a much longer story. The homeowners had already worked with BEC Innovations to renovate the rest of their Sparta home in 2023 and 2024 — every part of it except the primary suite. In 2025, they invited us back to close the loop. The brief was a luxury primary bathroom that fit the elevated modern farmhouse style of the rest of the home, without leaning rustic.
The Aesthetics the Homeowners Were After
The design direction was clear from the start: timeless, warm, and luxurious. Not heavily farmhouse, not minimalist, but somewhere thoughtful in between. We translated that brief into specific material and finish choices:
- Warm wood tones grounding the palette.
- Layered textures across walls, floors, and finishes.
- Luxury plumbing fixtures.
- Custom shower features.
- Improved natural lighting.
- Spa-inspired finishes throughout.
The result was meant to feel sophisticated and inviting at the same time — closer to a retreat than a bathroom, but consistent with the rest of the home rather than departing from it.
The Standout Features
A few elements ended up defining the finished space:
- A spa-inspired shower with custom features built into the design.
- A built-in shower bench added for comfort and a more spa-like experience.
- High-end plumbing fixtures throughout.
- Andersen windows and doors as part of the material selections.
- Custom storage and organization upgrades.
The mix of warm materials, clean lines, and layered textures was what made the space feel finished. Each individual choice mattered, but the cohesion across all of them was the point.
A Project That Closed the Loop
There’s something specific about being asked back to a home you’ve already worked on. It means the relationship survived the first project and the homeowners trusted us to handle the most personal room in the house. The primary suite is where people start and end their days, and the bar for getting it right is higher than it is for any other space. The finished bathroom now serves as a true retreat — the part of the home the homeowners had been waiting for since the earlier phases wrapped.
