A Clean, Functional Bathroom Renovation in Joywood Heights, East Nashville

by | May 19, 2026

Not every bathroom renovation needs to be a showpiece to be a worthwhile project.

This one in Joywood Heights was a straightforward, entry-level renovation for a homeowner who had just purchased the property and needed a bathroom that actually worked. No layout changes. No luxury upgrades. No overdesigning it.

Just a clean, functional bathroom done right.

Starting with What Was There

Like a lot of homes in this part of the city, this bathroom came with some history.

Once we opened things up, it became clear the space had been added onto the house at some point—built over an existing concrete patio and not fully brought up to code. Nothing you would see walking through the home, but definitely something that mattered once construction started.

At that point, the direction is simple: Fix it correctly, or don’t fix it at all.

There’s no version of this where we patch around problems and call it done.

Keeping the Design Simple (on Purpose)

With the layout staying the same, the focus was on making the space feel clean, updated, and easy to maintain.

The finished bathroom includes:

  • LVP flooring throughout
  • A new tub and shower insert system
  • Updated plumbing fixtures and trim
  • Fresh drywall and paint
  • Carpentry that matches the rest of the home

The homeowner supplied their own shower fixtures, which helped keep the project aligned with budget without sacrificing the overall look.

This isn’t a “look at me” bathroom—and it’s not supposed to be.

It’s a bathroom that works, fits the house, and will hold up over time.

What Actually Matters (That You Don’t See)

The most important parts of this project aren’t what you see in the photos.

Behind the walls, we:

  • Corrected plumbing that had been done incorrectly
  • Fixed drainage issues that had likely existed for years
  • Rebuilt sections of the subfloor
  • Brought insulation and construction up to current standards

None of that is glamorous. All of it is necessary.

This is the difference between a bathroom that looks good for six months and one that actually performs long-term.

A Realistic Bathroom Renovation in Nashville

Homes in Nashville—especially in areas like Joywood Heights and East Nashville—come with layers. Original construction, additions, quick fixes over the years.

You don’t always see it at first. But it shows up during construction.

That’s normal.

What matters is having a plan for how it’s handled when it does.

Thinking About Renovating Your Bathroom?

If you’re planning a bathroom renovation, here’s the reality:

What you see at the end is only part of the story.

The work behind the walls is what determines whether the project was actually done well.

At BEC Innovations, we focus on both.

No shortcuts. No guesswork. No surprises once we get into it.

Just a clear process, solid construction, and a finished space that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
