The homeowners had an oblong stamped concrete pad on the side of the house that should have been their favorite outdoor space. It wasn’t. The sun beat down on that side of the house relentlessly, and even an after-market canopy the homeowners had installed couldn’t block enough of it — or move enough air — to make grilling or sitting outside comfortable. The pad was in great shape. It just wasn’t usable in the way that mattered.
The goal of the project was to turn that pad into a space the family would actually use. Not a swap, not a redo — a cover, a finish, and the structural details to make the whole thing feel like a proper outdoor room.
